The “PED era” refers to a period in sports when the use of Performance-enhancing drugs (PED) was widespread due to weak regulations and implicit toleration from its uses by sports leagues. In the modern era, PED use is very strictly banned and any players who uses it will be banned from the league.

The current ban is applied retroactively, where notable athletes from the "PED era" are refrained from getting their recognition in their respective sports Hall of Fame, such as All-Time Home Run Leader and Seven-time MVP Barry Bods, Single-season home run record holder Mark McGwire, and Seven-time Tour de France cyling race winner Lance Armstrong.
